Late November 2017

Had a busy second week fishing both the bay and Clearwater harbor area. Fishing was good with Redfish, Trout, Snook and Triple tail being caught. Early in the week I fished out of Safety harbor and we fished for snook and trout. Did good on both, middle of the week I fished for triple tail out of Dunedin Marina, and we started the day by running south along the stone crab traps looking for Triple tail. We ran down from Clearwater beach to sandy key, and made our way down to Johns pass and St.pete beach where we caught a 6 triple tail with 2 shorts, 2 just legal, and 2 jumbos. I finished off the week fishing back over in Dunedin Clearwater area catch trout and a few redfish.

Sept. Fishing Report For Tampa, Clearwater, St.Pete Beach 2017

September Fishing has been good! Hurricane Irma hit Florida hard, but didn’t hit Clearwater beach, St. Pete beach, or Tampa Bay. While many people lost power here I was on vacation in Venice,Louisiana catching Bull Redfish! I came home the second week of the month and the Snook, Redfish, trout, mackerel and many others were ready to bite, and the weather has been perfect with no wind or rain!

I started the month off on vacation fishing in Venice, Louisiana catching Bull Redfish in the 40” range. These fish are hard pulling and don’t give up. Every year I like to make a fishing trip to Louisiana as they have some amazing fishing there. This year has been the toughest year yet, but I was still able to catch some of the big bulls they have!

Clearwater Beach fishing has been good just before I left I was catching good numbers of redfish and trout. When I got back mid month we got right back to it with Redfish, Trout, Snook, mackerel, jacks, and many more species fishing the deep grass flats just inside Clearwater harbor and up around St. Joesph sound in Dunedin. Live sardine have been key to our success and they have been abundant, but small. We have even done a couple fly fishing trips lately, and we had no issues catching plenty of fish on the fly! If you want to do a fly trip just let me know.

St.Pete Beach fishing trips have been catch lots of Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Trout, and Redfish fishing both the grass flats of Ft. Desoto, and just off the beach in front of the the Don Cesar hotel. Fall fishing is heating up and the St. Pete area is great because it the opening between the Gulf of mexico and Tampa Bay, and all the fish moving through the area pass by the area making for great angling opportunities.

Tampa Bay fishing charters have been catching lots of Snook, a few reds, and limits of trout. The bay fishing is about to get really good as soon as the first cold fronts hit and the fish push into the bay, and for the anglers that will be here for this we will have 50-100 fish days fishing for snook and reds.

May Fishing Charter Report Clearwater, Tampa, St.Pete Beach

May Fishing Charter Report for Clearwater Beach, Tampa Bay, and St.Pete Beach area. Inshore and Nearshore the fish are biting!! Inshore Snook, Redfish, Trout, and Finally the Tarpon are all biting. Nearshore Snapper, Sharks, and Permit are around.

Clearwater Beach is getting ready for Summer vacation! Summer is here and everyone is heading for the beaches including the fish… Snook are out around the gulf beaches gathering up for Spawning season and are quite the fighters once hooked up. Snook season is closed currently, but make great catch and reason action. Redfish have been a around and in good numbers. The high tide has been best to catch these fish, and we have often been fishing for trout and snook while we wait for the tide to get to the right level.

Dr. With a big redfish for the clear water area

Tampa Bay’s Snook and Redfish bite has been has hot! Inside the bay snook are bunching back up for the spawn, and the redfish are schooled up as well make for some fun fishing. Snook have been averaging anywhere from 20”-30” with a few large biting as well. Redfish have been top of the slot size 27” or even as large as 36” and we are catching them in shallow water 2′ or less. Live bait and Cut bait have both been working well. Trout fishing has also be outstanding, and getting a few for a fresh fish dinner hasn’t been a problem.

Redfish caught in St.petersburg florida with Capt.Jared on half day fishing charter trip

St.Pete Beach fishing has been providing plenty of action for anglers visiting this area. Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, trout, and sharks have all been around and willing to bite over the last few weeks. Tarpon fishing is starting to get good, the fish were a little late this year, but they are finally here and the bite is getting better daily. Sept. Fishing Charter Report – Clearwater Beach -Tampa Bay

Sept. Fishing Charter Fishing Report – Clearwater Beach -Tampa Bay, Florida

September Fishing has been good in Clearwater beach and Tampa bay for anglers looking to get out and do some charter fishing! Redfish, Snook, Spanish Mackerel, and Mangrove snapper have provide anglers plenty of action as of lately..!

Clearwater fishing charter

Redfish have moved into the Clearwater harbor area, and have provided consistent action over the last couple of days. Most of the fish have been lower to mid slot size in the area and are perfect for that “blackened Redfish” recipe! The slot limit on Redfish in our area is 1 per person, and 18”-27”. the Redfish action will be good throughout October!!

20161021_114246

Snook season is now open, and the Snook are on the move in Tampa Bay! Most of the have finished spawning and are ready to feed if you can find them! The Snook bite has been decent, but but outstanding, but for anglers looking to target only Snook the action can be had, and once the fish are found the wait can be worth it! Snook season will be open until November 30th. The size limit is 28”-33” 1 per. Person.

Nearshore fishing has been great for Mackerel, Bluefish, and snapper over the past week and the action should remain good throughout the rest of September. Both fish provide good steady action for the families and friends alike, and provide good table fair if you decide to take a few fish home for dinner!!

December Fishing Report Tampa Bay

December Fishing Report Tampa Bay

December has started out with excellent weather unlike the previous month of November, which was almost a complete blow out with front after front and 20mph winds.  The inshore fishing this past week was phenomenal with slams coming to the boat almost every trip. Although the Trout and Redfish action has been awesome!

Trout fishing has finally started to pick up in the last week with the slot fish starting to school up, and the larger breeder trout starting moving into the shallows. Look for slot size fish to be in the deeper channels and creeks throughout the bay area. Live shrimp, sardines, and jigs have been producing limits on daily basis. The larger breeder size trout have also started to show up in their shallow winter time haunts. These big trout can be extremely spooking and require a long cast in order not to spook them. Darker colored soft plastic jerk baits rigged weed less or on a light jig have been producing the best results, although large live shrimp free-lined are hard for these fish to pass up.

The redfish fish bite has been outstanding this past week as well with good numbers of fish being caught on every trip as well, most of the fish have been under slot to mid slot size. Look for the redfish to be hanging out around docks and oyster bars this time of year. Live shrimp and soft plastic jigs have been working equally as well.

Snook have still been around and I have been finding them on the open flats, around docks, and in the back country. The fish have been a little sluggish, and fishing late in the afternoon has produced good results once the water has warmed up. Live sardines and shrimp have both been working well, but artificial lures have been out producing bait.  Soft plastic jerk baits fished on 1/4oz. jig heads fished slow and on the bottom have been my go-to baits.

Pompano, Cobia, Jacks, and Sharks have also been around the warm water discharge of the power plants. This fishing around these areas has been sporadic at best, but worth taking a look if you are in the area. Look for these areas to heat up in the coming weeks with the arrival of the winter time cold fronts.
